We are living in days of great change and great challenges. In the midst of all this we can know the ultimate place of security. Ps 91 tells us how and 4 blessings that accompany this. This article will explain how Ps 91 is so relevant and what we can take hold of for our lives.

It is about making God our only dwelling place, resting in Him daily (vs 1). This is the place of total security.

So here are just some of the blessings that arise from this:

Absence of fears

It is the place of no fears (vs 5). In a world where fear and threats seem to be increasing this is an incredible blessing.

Protection from plagues

It is the place of protection from every plague (3). We don’t have to fall foul to the latest infection that is hitting our shores. Why does it work? Ps 61:7 says that it is because of God’s love and faithfulness. He protects His children who look to Him. He is our place of security.

Long Life

It has the promise of long life (vs 16) and much fruit in old age (Ps 92:14 , Ps 92 is a continuation of the theme). I am amazed how much the Bible talks about the blessing of long life. This is something we should seek so that we have a long life to serve the Lord and can pass the wonders of God to the next generation.

Protection of nations

We can also claim Ps 91 for whole cities and even nations, that is God’s protection over them. The Enemy is not stronger than the Lord, but His people need to claim these great promises in these days.

So why don’t we see this sometimes in our own lives or when we pray for nations?

I believe that one of the reasons is the question of faith. All promises of God are dependent on declaring them with faith and persistently to see their realisation. We declare them and pray them until the reality becomes ours. When praying for nations this takes a greater leap of faith but we must believe that nothing is impossible for God.

So let’s declare Ps 91 over our lives and our families and even nations with absolute faith that He will hear us.
