It’s a prophetic worship movement in which worship artist Sean Feucht is leading outdoor worship events all over the USA.
What’s the Biblical basis?
Ps 22:3 says literally in the Hebrew,
“You are holy, sitting (or abiding) in the praises of Israel.”
So when we worship and pray God’s presence manifests. His presence transforms us and even places. In 2 Sam God totally transformed Obed Edom and his household:
2 Sam 6:11
“The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and his entire household.”
Who is Sean Feucht?
He’s a Californian based worship leader, author and speaker. He founded Burn 24-7, a global worship and prayer movement. Also a volunteer Bethel worship leader. He ran for Congress this year as a Republican but lost in a Californian primary.
Why is he doing these events?
- They started as a protest against current Covid restrictions on church gatherings, where churches can’t meet or are not allowed to sing.
- Then expanded to bring healing to cities affected by racial unrest.
- His vision is to bring worship, prayer, healing and unity into places of division and unrest.
- Also to pray for revival.
But watching some of the worship concerts online, the events are much more than just a great worship time together.
They are declaring the goodness of God in times of uncertainty and difficulty, and declaring prophetically the purposes of God over cities and a great revival to come. And they invite key pastors to share and pray. They are bringing hope to cities.
So it’s a prophetic movement that’s focussed on spiritual awakening and healing of the nation.
They pray for physical healing and also call people to give their lives to Christ and be baptized afterwards.
For more, see the event below at Sacramento, the capital of California. The worship is sensational and the message uplifting.
How did it all start?
Sean tells the story of how it started. In March when churches were closing, he heard a new decree in California that the church could no longer sing because of Covid 19. This really upset him, that in America and as a worshipper he wouldn’t be allowed to sing anymore. So he rang a whole load of his team to meet at Golden Gate Bridge at the heart of California for a worship event. 400 turned up.
During the worship there, they saw a number of police riding up and down the bridge. The team stopped to pray for them and asked them what they were doing. The police replied that they were on suicide patrol on the bridge! So Sean replied, “This situation, it’s turning around.” And they prayed for an end to these suicides. So that was also the turning point for them. They weren’t going to stick indoors anymore! And faith arose to see God change things.
Sean said at Sacramento that in the last month he had made a lot of people mad and many of his friends but that he just felt he and his team should keep going.
Why are the events controversial?
Because they have been run often without following Covid guidelines and most without masks.
Because they have focussed mostly on praying for healing of divisions rather than praying for justice. The Bible teaches that we should do both!
Recently
On Sunday 25 October he held a big event at the National Mall in Washington DC that attracted 35,000. It’s the 45th place Sean and his team have visited.
How is it different from the Send?
There are both similarities and differences.
Similarities:
- Both are prophetic movements.
- The style of the events bare similar in terms of the worship and inviting pastors to participate.
Differences:
- The Send is an event designed to spark a missions movement inside a nation and to send missionaries to the nations.
- The Send started as one event in Orlando, the USA in February 2019 . The next will be in Kansas City in April 2021.
And now what?
Let’s pray for similar movements in our nation, to change history and declare the purposes of God over our cities.
Pray for a spiritual awakening in your nation and the nations!
