To get ready for a move of God we need a new wine skin. This article will examine 7 aspects of this wine skin we need to adopt to get ready.
My most recent blog was about the Church needing to get ready for a great move of God.
However, the Church generally worldwide is not ready to contain the rain that God wants to send.
If a move of God came now the Church simply would not be ready to contain all the new believers and to disciple them properly. So most of the harvest would be lost!
So the Church needs to get ready. But how can we get ready? The Church needs to build a new wine skin. Here are 7 aspects we need to build into the Church:
1.A flexible wine skin
That is, the Church serves what God is doing at the time and is not focussed on the form (the peripheral). So it is adaptable and can change to fit into what God is doing. This is essential because God always does things differently to keep us dependent on Him.
2.A pure wine skin
One that is not tainted with the world. God is holy. How can the Holy Spirit remain in power on the Church if it is unholy? The Church needs to preach repentance more and how to walk in purity.
For teaching on how to be more pure, see IDENTITY AS A SON THE KEY TO PURITY: 3 WAYS IT CONQUERS SIN
3.An open-hearted wine skin
The Church needs to be unprejudiced towards those that God wants to send to the churches The Apostle Peter needed a vision on the roof in order to be open to mixing with Gentiles! God wants to send us the homeless, the drug addicts, those with drink problems, gang members, street teenagers etc. In general, the Church is not ready to receive such people at the moment.
4.A wine skin that values the presence of God above all else
If God came in power and then left for a moment, would everyone continue to seek for more of God or go back to normal. If the latter it is because we don’t value God’s Presence enough at the moment.
God doesn’t simply want to visit the Church but to remain in power.

5.A wine skin of knowing ones identity in God
To carry the new wine in season and out of season, believers need to know their identity in God. The Church has been given enormous authority to walk in. This should not be dependent on the season, a move of God or on feelings but based on our identity as sons and daughters of the Living God.
6.A wine skin of understanding the purposes of God in this generation
It is significant that Evan Roberts, who was one of the key instruments in the Welsh Revival of 1904, spent much time in prayer seeking God about the state of Christianity in his generation. He was rewarded with powerful visitations from the Lord. God explained His plans to bring about a great move of God in Wales.
How can the Church run with the things of God in our generation if it doesn’t seek God for revelation on this.
7.A new wine skin that focuses on discipleship
This may sound obvious but the Church now spends a lot of time building organisations that do things or organising events. The focus is not on building people. Discipleship requires a lot of our personal time and building relationships. The command of Jesus was to make disciples of all peoples (Mt 28:19-20).
If the Church is to keep all the fruit of new people entering the Church it must be ready to disciple them all and not simply put on events or organise some programs.

What now?
My book GRACE OUTPOURINGS: 21 DAYS REVIVAL DEVOTIONAL is designed especially to disciple through verses and stories about revival. Do read for a great devotional experience or pass onto others to disciple them in their homes.
My other book also has a chapter on discipleship 5 WAYS TO GET READY FOR A DIVINE VISITATION.
They often serve in areas with little gospel witness, far from the familiar and comfortable, working week after week to see God s Kingdom move forward in difficult places.
Yet, the New Testament narrative informs us that on at least one occasion he was not able to fulfill his objective because God saw fit to stop him.
I like reading an article that can make people think. Also, thank you for allowing me to comment!
