5 REASONS TO NOT GIVE UP

Persistence

Many times we are tempted to give up. Perhaps we have a difficult or seemingly impossible situation that we face. Or we have been praying for many months or years about something and nothing has changed. This article will look at 5 reasons to help us keep going.

Jesus tells the parable of the persistent widow, who despite her weakness gets justice because she is persistent. Jesus also finishes with:

“However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Lk 18:8)

The suggestion is that most people give up but that we can succeed! So here are the five reasons to not give up:

1.This is real faith

We may pray about something or persist in love for a while and then desist. But this is not real faith! Real faith persists until there is a breakthrough (Lk 18:8). And God rewards real faith.

2.Breakthrough demands persistence

Most of the best things in life come through persistence. The same is true of the Christian life. We need to keep our focus on the finishing line and our eyes on the Lord. A famous swimmer attempted the channel crossing but as she was getting close to the coast, fog came, It obscured the coast and she decided to give up because she could no longer see her destination.

3.It pleases God.

Heb 11:6 says:

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

We should persist because it pleases God and honours Him. Why? Because it honours Him and His character of goodness towards us. Literally in the Greek, we “must believe that He is”.He loves it when we prove His character of goodness and redemption and pursue this.

4.We will attain a new level of faith and maturity

God desires that we grow much in Him. This rarely comes easily but it is worth it and it will last for eternity. But it means we mustn’t give up.

5.It will enable us to achieve breakthroughs in other areas

The great thing about persisting to a breakthrough in one area is that not only do we get joy in this area but we can apply the same faith to other areas to and on behalf of others who need breakthroughs. Hence, the blessing multiplies!

So don’t give up!!
