I wonder if you have an immovable wall that you are still praying into. However much you pray it is still there and nothing seems to change! Maybe it is for a breakthrough, maybe for a specific situation to change, maybe for a dream to come true. Maybe for an unreached people group to respond to the Good News. I was praying into such a wall recently and the Lord gave me a fascinating insight into this from the book of Joshua.
Have you ever wondered why it was only Jericho that God brought the walls down? Why at the first city and not at the rest?
The Reason
The reason was that the spies before had declared, “The cities are large, with walls up to the sky” (Dt 1:28). The walls of the Canaanite cities had appeared as immovable ones to them. So God wanted to demonstrate that even the highest walls were nothing to His power.
After this there were many other ways He used to help the Israelites overcome the Canaanite walls, like stealth etc. What had to be removed first was the stronghold of impenetrable walls in the hearts of the people. Once this had been removed, the method of overcoming them was not important for Him, only that they obeyed His plan each time. The crucial thing was that His people now faced the high walls with faith and not fear or despair, because they were no longer impenetrable walls for them.
Conclusion
So we must first ask if we have a stronghold of an immovable wall in our heart first that needs to be removed? Then we can say like David that the giant is so big I can’t miss!
